Gallipoli is one of those places in Salento that really has a lot going for it—great beaches, fantastic restaurants, and a lively atmosphere that makes it a popular base for exploring the region.

But let me be upfront: if you’re visiting in July or August, be prepared for serious crowds. It can feel a bit overwhelming, and while it’s an excellent spot for sun and sea, Gallipoli on its own doesn’t quite capture the full magic of Salento. (Check out the rest of my Salento content to find out where else in this lovely region I recommend adding to your itinerary!)

That said, if you’re looking for the best hotels in Gallipoli Italy, there are plenty of reasons to base yourself here. Whether you’re coming for the historical charm of the old town, the endless coastal views, or just the general buzz of the place, Gallipoli offers a solid jumping-off point for your Salento adventures, with great stays for every budget.

  3. Trendy & Affordable: Palazzo Flora
  4. Vintage Charm: Palazzo Zacà
  5. Best Value Gallipoli B&B: B&B Corte Casole

How My Budget Tiers Work

The best hotels in Gallipoli, Puglia, cater to all types of travelers, with options across various price ranges. Keep in mind that Gallipoli is an immensely popular summer destination, so prices can shift dramatically based on the season.

The rates I’ve listed reflect May and June prices, but if you’re visiting in July, expect to add around €100 per night, and in August, prices can increase by as much as €200 per night above what I’ve quoted here. On the flip side, if you’re visiting in the off-season, you can often save €50-100 per night.

In Gallipoli, I consider mid-range hotels to cap around $200 per night, while luxury stays typically start at that point and go up from there. For those on a tighter budget, there are still great options under $125 per night.

Here’s how I’ve broken down the budget categories in this post, all in USD:

  • Budget – €: Under $125/night
  • Mid-Range – €€: $125 to $200/night
  • Luxury – €€€: $200+/night

FAQs about Where to Stay in Gallipoli, Italy

Is it worth staying in Gallipoli?

It really depends on your priorities. If you want quick access to Lecce (for the train), Brindisi (for the airport), or easy access to beaches and shopping, then yes, Gallipoli is definitely worth staying in.

However, if you’re hoping to experience the slower, more relaxed pace of life that Salento is known for, I wouldn’t recommend staying in Gallipoli proper – at least not for your whole trip. That said, if you choose one of the amazing luxury stays hotels just outside of town (featured above), it can be a excellent option for where to stay in Salento.

How many days do you need in Gallipoli?

I’d recommend spending 2-3 days in Gallipoli to fully explore the old town, enjoy the beaches, and experience the local dining scene. It’s a great base for day trips too, but if you’re looking for a longer, more relaxing stay in Salento, consider splitting your time between Gallipoli and other nearby towns.
