  2. Trendy & Affordable (Near Bari): Le Carasse Boutique Hotel

How My Budget Tiers Work

When planning a trip to Bari, you’ll find a range of accommodation options to suit different budgets.

I think Bari Vecchia, the city’s historic heart, can offers an unparalleled experience – the one you think of when you think of Italy – but it comes with a price. Staying here means immersing yourself in narrow, winding streets, ancient architecture, and a lively local atmosphere, but the fact is that it just costs more.

For more budget-friendly options, consider staying in the Murat district, the modern center of Bari. Here, you’ll find a variety of mid-range hotels and apartments that offer more space and amenities for your money while still being close to key sights like the Teatro Petruzzelli and Via Sparano, Bari’s main shopping street.

For those looking to stretch their budget even further, exploring accommodation options outside the city, such as in Mola di Bari, can provide excellent value. This seaside town is just a short drive or train ride away from Bari and offers charming properties with a local feel, often at a fraction of the cost. In fact, it’s where we stayed when we were visiting Bari!

And just to keep things real, here’s the breakdown of budget categories in this post, all in USD:

  • Budget – €: Under $150/night
  • Mid-Range – €€: $150 to $200/night
  • Luxury – €€€: $200+/night

Of course, prices will fluctuate between the high season (July-August) and the rest of the year, but these ranges should be accurate most of the time.

FAQs about Where to Stay in Bari

Where should I stay in Bari?

When deciding where to stay in Bari, you have several great neighborhoods to choose from. If you want to be immersed in history and those signature Italian vibes, stay in Bari Vecchia – the charming old town filled with narrow streets, historic landmarks, and local eateries. For a more modern vibe, Murat offers a vibrant atmosphere with some of the city’s best dining, independent shops, and proximity to the sea.

For budget-conscious travelers, consider staying just outside the city… that’s what we did! Mola di Bari and Casamassima are excellent options, providing trendy accommodations at a fraction of the price while still being within easy reach of Bari’s attractions.

Is it worth staying in Bari?

Absolutely YES! Bari is a fantastic destination to explore Pugliese culture, especially through unique dishes like panzerotti and spaghetti all’assassina that you won’t find elsewhere. Plus, Bari is more English-friendly than many other spots in Puglia, making it a great entry point to the region. Give it more than one day to fully experience both the historic charm of Bari Vecchia and the trendy vibes of Murat. Oh, and don’t forget to visit the beautiful beaches nearby!

Is it expensive in Bari?

Bari offers a great balance when it comes to costs. While accommodation and dining are more affordable than in major cities like Rome, Paris, or London, they are still pricier than in smaller Pugliese towns. You’ll find a range of options, from budget-friendly stays to boutique hotels, making it easy to enjoy the city no matter your budget.
